Deli Terra Jaya Jusco

I don't believe this.....We've found another great place to eat in MidValley Megamall. Last time, we reviewed Little Penang Cafe... this time its from Jaya Jusco's very own cafe called Deli Terra. Don't laugh... I too was laughing until I tried their chinese Penang Assam Laksa at RM4.50 a bowl . I just kept on quietly eating until the whole bowl was finished. Let me tell you more...

This place has it all if you're looking for laksa. The cafe was intelligently designed so that it sits next to their flower garden (which are on display for sale). Instead of just having the flowers to sit there looking pretty, they decided to bundle in a cafecomplete with garden tables and chairs to that patrons get this lovely garden cafe experience when eating there. The laksa is good and on top of that, this place is air conditioned! Tremendously good ambience for eating.. which is why this place is packed and during peak time, the queue can be about 10-15 minutes long. They serve only a handful of dishes namely bubur cha cha, laksa, nasi pulut, mushroom koay teow and nasi lemak. The two that I liked is their Assam Laksa and Nasi Pulut.

Let me tell youlah.... the assam laksa is damn good. Its cooked Chinese Penang style complete with pineapples, mint leaves, otak udang, sardines, onions and all. This is as near original as you could ever get in KL. The laksa gravy is a bit sweet, spicy and sourish.. a trademark of Penang Chinese style laksa and they give you generous portions of sardine flesh with it. To balance the flavours, they throw in generous portions of mint leaves, pineapples and otak udang. A powerful spicy concoction. Congrats fellas... this is how laksa is supposed to taste like....

The Nasi Pulut is also quite good (RM4.90). Its yellow pulut rice accompanied with chicken rendang, nuts, cucumber, chopped chillies and spring onions. Thats not all. The whole dish comes in a banana leaf setting. The secret to this dish is their chicken rendang. Its quite well made and when eated with the pulut and some of their sweet sambal .. gorgeous!

The other thing thats worth a mention is the setting of Deli Terra. As I said earlier, its done in a flower garden, it has nice wooden garden table and chairs, nice chinese crockery.. you just have to come here to see what I mean. This place is well liked from the looks of it. Malay, Chinese, Indian.. all got .. united over a bowl of laksa. True malaysian spiritlah. Anyway, if you're in MidValley and looking for a good assam laksa, head to the North Section of the mall where Jaya Jusco is, climb up several flights of stairs to Deli Terra on Jaya Jusco's top floor and look for Deli Terra.

Don't worry... if your eyes can't see it.... you nose will find it .. believe me. Enjoy your assam laksa as laksa this good don't normally come from an air conditioned restaurant. Make sure you ask them to put some 'otak udang' on the laksa..... Bob! thanks for the tip!

This is Deli Terra slap bang in the middle of Jaya Jusco's air conditioned flower garden. Very nice...
