Fatman Steambot

Click Picture to enlarge

You can find Fatman Steamboat at most nightmarkets around the Klang Valley, but I usually visit them every Sunday from 6.00 - 9.00 pm at the Bangsar "Pasar Malam" or Night Market. It's just a great, cheap and fast way of enjoying a bit of steamboat, esp. when you just want a few sticks of jellyfish or fishball or cuttlefish etc. It costs about RM1.75 for any stick. You pick out the stick of whatever it is you want, dip it into the hot water and wait for it to boil, and then fish it out amongst everyone else's sticks in there, and enjoy! Keep the sticks till the end for them to calculate how much you've eaten.

My personal favourite is the jellyfish - it's chewy, crunchy and has an interesting texture. Others are not similarly enamoured as they consider it bland. Whatever! There's so much other choice here though, from intestines to vegetable stuffed tofu to crab claws and cockles, you'll definitely find something you'd want to try. You have a choice of 3 sauces to dip into once your stuff is cooked - oyster sauce, sambal, and something else.
